Downtown Station Area Specific Plan

Coastland, in conjunction with Design Community and Environment (DCE), prepared a Specific Plan for downtown Santa Rosa including the proposed commuter rail station area in historic Railroad Square and infill development within commercial and residential areas in the downtown corridor. The tasks required for the Plan encompassed evaluating existing and potential land uses; analyzing circulation and infrastructure conditions; and developing land use regulations, implementation strategies and design guidelines to encourage appropriate transit oriented development within the project area. Coastland was responsible for the infrastructure needs analysis. This analysis evaluated storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water systems, street improvements, public facilities, parks, electricity service, natural gas services and telecommunications. Coastland also identified known hazardous waste sites and infrastructure deficiencies that could hinder potential growth. This project was honored with a Focused Issue Planning Merit Award from the Northern Section of the California American Planning Association (APA).
