Palm Avenue SRTS Sidewalk Project
Funded through the Safe Routes to School federally-legislated program, the principal goal of this project is to provide a safe and accessible route for pedestrians and bicyclists between the E.V. Cain School and the adjoining neighborhoods. The project will also promote bicycling and walking to school as a safe and feasible transportation alternative and improve overall community safety. Specifically, the Palm Avenue project will provide a sidewalk on one side of Palm Avenue to connect to the existing pedestrian ramps at Highway 49 and at Nevada Street. In addition, Class II bike lanes will be constructed along both sides of Palm Avenue between at Highway 49 and at Nevada Street. The project will also include the installation of a flashing beacon on both sides of the school frontage. Coastland’s responsibilities include site evaluation, environmental review, public outreach, conceptual and final design.
