Coastland prepared two successful applications totally over $96,000 through the SRTS program for these projects which aim to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety through various sidewalk improvements. The application process involved soliciting input from three schools, identifying safety hazards and solutions, soliciting input from stakeholders, developing concepts and decision matrices, and completing detailed applications for submittal to Caltrans. After the City was granted funding Coastland provided design services including all processing and coordination with Caltrans. Coastland staff also coordinated with property owners for right-of-way acquisition.
“Coastland has been very responsive and professional; they have helped with major grants and engineering on road repairs as well as Safe routes to school projects and water and waste projects. They are totally professional and responsive to the City’s needs. After my 18 years with the City and another consultant, Coastland was a ray of light to help solve city problems.”
