The Building Department at Coastland consists of a credentialed staff of professional engineers, certified building officials, certified plans examiners, certified combined building inspectors and permit technicians.
Plan Review
Our plans examiners and plan check engineers are prepared to assist in all aspects of plan review. Plan check capability includes reviews for structural, non-structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, accessibility, architectural and energy code compliance. Our structural reviews are completed by professional engineers, providing true peer review. Coastland’s thorough and timely reviews provide applicants with accurate plan checks and prompt turnaround that is unmatched by other jurisdictions.
Many cities and counties recognize that the time consuming plan review process may not fit the permittee’s construction schedule. To address this concern, many Building Departments offer a “third party” plan review for permit applicants wishing to expedite their plan review process. The Building Departments of Calistoga, Cloverdale, Fairfax, Petaluma, Truckee and Yountville and the counties of El Dorado, Marin, Napa, Sonoma, and Yolo have authorized Coastland to provide this service in their jurisdictions as an alternate method that can accelerate permit review. Coastland also offers “expedited” plan reviews for jurisdictions that utilize this program. Inspection
Our building inspectors offer complete inspection services for residential, commercial, industrial and custom construction projects to ensure code compliance. Our inspection staff are ICC/ICBO trained and certified and participate in continuing education and ongoing field training. Our staff is very knowledgeable of the California building codes and local regulations and construction practices.
Coastland regularly provides plan review and inspection to jurisdictions on a time and material basis to supplement their staff during heavy work loads or when faced with temporary gaps in their in-house personnel.
